128ordle Changelog

What changed on 128ordle, and when. Small fixes get a patch version, bigger batches get a new version number, and big launches get their own page. The latest version is v7.5, released 7 October 2026.

Major releases

v7.5 (): Seven more languages, themed puzzles and colour-blind mode

Play in German, Italian, Dutch, Indonesian, Swedish, Polish or Turkish, try a themed puzzle, switch to colour-blind or high-contrast clues, and look back at yesterday's answers.

  • Seven new language editions: German (/de), Italian (/it), Dutch (/nl), Indonesian (/id), Swedish (/sv), Polish (/pl) and Turkish (/tr). Each has its own word list, daily puzzle, unlimited play and leaderboards.
  • Keyboards match each language. German and Swedish have their extra vowels, Polish has a row for its nine letters, and Turkish has separate dotted and dotless I keys.
  • Every new language has its own rules page, starting words worked out from its answers, a strategy guide and in-game help, all written in that language.
  • New clue colour settings. Colour-blind swaps green and yellow for orange and blue, and High contrast adds a solid outline for the right place and a dashed one for the wrong place. Find them in Settings, under Appearance.
  • Themed puzzles: play Animals, Food and drink, Nature and weather, The body, Around the home or School on 1, 2, 4 or 8 boards, where every answer fits the topic. A new one each day at /themed-wordle.
  • Optional daily reminder email. Turn it on in Settings, under Details, to get one email on a day you have not played, or only when a streak is about to end. It never sends more than one a day and stops by itself if you stop playing.
  • A new page lists yesterday's answers for the daily puzzles from 1 to 128 boards, each linked to its meaning. Today's answers stay hidden.

v7.4 (): Smoother big games and lighter pages

Another performance pass reduces the work behind long games and the download needed for everyday pages.

  • 64-board games now draw the boards around your scroll position, making long guess histories lighter while keeping every board and clue available.
  • The game clock updates on its own, so waiting between guesses no longer redraws the boards and keyboard every second.
  • Release history loads when you open the changelog. Other pages keep only the small index needed for its links.
  • Shop, FAQ, leaderboard and Friends styles load with those pages, reducing the styling downloaded by other routes.
  • Ordinary pages download less guide metadata and sound data, while links, search previews and cosmetic choices stay the same.
  • Help for other word editions reuses its content while you type, keeping long games lighter.

v7.3 (): Lighter pages and a better phone layout

Less to download, less work while you type, and game controls that fit on smaller screens.

  • Game controls now fit across narrow phone screens. Undo, Style, Settings, Stats and Sign up stay visible, with larger touch targets.
  • Pages load their own screen first instead of downloading the home page and game together. Account tools and the word checker load when needed.
  • Typing across many boards reuses clues that have already been drawn, keeping long games more responsive.
  • Guesses and undo still save immediately, with duplicate save work removed.
  • Clocks, shop previews and friend checks pause in background tabs, then catch up when you return. Decorative motion also pauses offscreen.

v7.2.1 (): Party games count too

Games played in Party mode now add to the site totals.

  • Guesses made, letters typed, boards solved, games finished and hours played on the home page now include every Party game, going back to the first one.
  • Party guesses count even for players who left a round early or ran out of time.

v7.2 (): Every guess counts

The site totals now include guesses from games that were started but not finished.

  • Guesses made, letters typed and boards solved on the home page now count games you leave before the end, not only finished ones.
  • Unfinished games still saved in your browser are added the next time you visit, so the totals catch up on older play too.
  • Games finished is unchanged: it still counts only games played to the end.
  • Only counts are sent, never the words you typed. The data and tracking page explains what is stored.

v7.1.2 (): A shorter leaderboard filter

The leaderboard now asks for the word edition first, so the variant list is short again.

  • The leaderboard has a new Words filter for the word length or language. The Variant list then shows only that edition's board counts instead of every combination.
  • Switching edition keeps the board count you were looking at.

v7.1.1 (): Fixing the site loading error

A quick fix so the game opens normally again after the 7.0 update.

  • Fixed a loading error that could stop the site opening after the 7.0 update. The new word editions and everything else play as before.

v7.1 (): More help for every word edition

Find every edition guide in one library and learn how repeated letters work in Spanish, French and Portuguese.

  • The Wordle guide library now includes every word length and language, with direct links between translated guides.
  • Three new guides explain repeated letters in Spanish, French and Portuguese with worked examples and advice for several boards.
  • Edition guide text loads when you open a guide, keeping it out of the initial game download.
  • Opening another word edition now downloads its own dictionary without also fetching the classic dictionary.

v7.0 (): New word lengths and languages

Ten new editions of 128ordle arrive at once: every word length from 3 to 10 letters, plus Spanish, French and Portuguese, each on anything from 1 to 128 boards.

Ten new ways to play, in four languages.

  • Pick your word length: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 letters, each with daily and Infinite puzzles from 1 to 128 boards.
  • New Spanish, French and Portuguese editions with their own word lists.
  • Choose with the new Letters and Language rows on the home page. Each edition has its own address, such as /es or /7-letter.
  • Every edition keeps its own saves, daily puzzles and leaderboards, so nothing mixes with the classic game.

v6.17.2 (): A tidier homepage

The homepage guide now starts folded away so the puzzle list is easier to scan.

  • How 128ordle works stays folded until you open it, matching the help guides on the game pages.

v6.17.1 (): Help beside the puzzle

Daily and Infinite games now keep their rules and worked examples on the playable page.

  • Use How to play above the boards to reach the guide without leaving your puzzle, then jump straight back to play.
  • Each guide explains your board count, guess budget, controls and reset schedule, with a scored example showing why a repeated letter can be grey.
  • Game pages now link directly to the rules, strategy, word checker and contact information, and keep the same explanations before and after the game loads.
  • The guide stays folded away until you open How to play, and folds away again when you return to the puzzle.

v6.17 (): A guide on the homepage

The homepage now explains the game underneath the puzzle list, and the placeholder ad boxes are gone.

  • A new How 128ordle works section sits under the puzzle list, with the rules, a worked two-board example you can step through, and what is free and what is paid.
  • A table lists every size from 1 to 2,048 boards with its guess limit, how many spare guesses you get, and how often a new puzzle arrives.
  • The three placeholder ad boxes at the bottom of the homepage have been removed.
  • Speedrun, Hard and Blind pages no longer appear in search results, so a search link never drops you on the 128ordle+ page by surprise.

v6.16 (): School data policy and a bigger help centre

A new page explains exactly what happens with school emails and school data, and the help centre now answers more than 250 questions.

  • A new School Emails and School Data page sets out what is stored when you verify a school email or request a pack, who can see it, and how to remove it.
  • In short: 128ordle never contacts your school, never shares your account or results with it, and never sells or advertises with school information.
  • The Privacy Policy and Service Providers page now cover school packs and name the company that sends verification emails.
  • The help centre has grown from 82 answers to more than 250, with new School packs and Privacy and safety sections.
  • New answers cover Party mode, Ladder Climb, the Daily Gauntlet, the bigger board counts, the shop, accounts and troubleshooting.

Read the school data policy

v6.15 (): Request a school pack

Anyone with an account can now ask for a colour pack for their school, and two more universities have packs.

  • Settings, under School, has a new form to request a colour pack for your school. It works with any account, so you do not need a school email to ask.
  • If we add your requested school, it is linked to your account directly, so you can claim its pack even if you signed up with a personal email.
  • University of the Arts London and Royal Holloway have colour packs, in black and white and in brick orange and slate.
  • Cardiff Metropolitan, Queen Mary and Southampton packs now use colours checked against each university.

See every school with a pack

v6.14.3 (): School approval notices

Newly approved schools now get a one-time notice inside the game.

  • If your school was waiting for approval, you now get a one-time notice when it is approved, or a pack popup straight away if its pack is ready.

See every school with a pack

v6.14.2 (): See every school pack

A new page lists every college and university with a colour pack, and unverified school emails get a lasting reminder.

  • A new school packs page shows all 100 colleges and universities with a pack, with each school's colours, a search box, and a section for packs added by request.
  • The free school packs banner on the homepage is now one slim strip with a link to the full list, so the play buttons stay in view on smaller screens.
  • If you sign in with a school email you have not verified, a dot on Settings and its School tab stays until you do.

See every school with a pack

v6.14.1 (): School email fixes

Verifying a college or university email now works straight after signup, and you can manage it from Settings.

  • Signing up with a college or university email now asks for your 6-digit code as soon as you have picked a username, whether or not we recognise your school yet.
  • Settings has a new School tab where you can link a school email, claim and wear your pack, toggle your badge or remove the email.
  • Accounts that already sign in with a school email get a one-time reminder on the homepage to verify it.
  • Fixed codes being rejected for schools that were not linked before.

v6.14 (): 100 university colour packs

The first university catalogue brings matching board and keyboard colours to 100 institutions around the world.

  • Verified members can claim free board and keyboard packs for 100 universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, MIT and ETH Zurich.
  • Bright university colours stay in pack previews, with readable shades on letter tiles and keyboard keys.
  • A homepage offer opens school-email linking directly for existing accounts, so you can claim your university pack without making a new account.
  • Current email domains for renamed and missing institutions are recognised too. Other schools can still request verification and a future pack.

See every school with a pack

v6.13.1 (): Clearer school signup

Sign in and school signup now have a clearer form, a live colour preview and more helpful field messages.

  • Email and password fields are ready as soon as you open sign in or create account, with clear messages for incomplete addresses and short passwords.
  • The school signup panel previews board and keyboard colours, then switches to your institution’s colours when its pack is available.
  • The signup offer says school rather than uni, so college and university students can both recognise the option. School search has a refreshed layout too.

v6.13 (): Your university, your colours

Link your college or university email for a private uni leaderboard, optional university badge and free cosmetics as packs arrive.

  • Link your college or university email from your profile using a six-digit verification code, or verify it after signing up.
  • Claim and wear a free board theme and matching keyboard when your university pack is ready. Cardiff University is the first pack.
  • University members can choose to show a uni badge beside their name. Badge colours follow the university when you switch profiles, and college memberships stay private.
  • Compare results with members of your own college or university in the private uni leaderboard.
  • Sign in with your linked school email, and add a personal sign-in email before your school account expires.
  • School-email sign-up still takes you to verification when your institution is not listed yet, including universities with .ca, .org or .com addresses.

v6.12.2 (): Stats page retired

The community stats page is gone, the homepage totals stay, and old /stats links now open the homepage.

  • The homepage still shows the community totals for letters typed, guesses made and boards solved.
  • Old links to the stats page now land on the homepage. The monthly stats recap, daily difficulty and records pages are unchanged.

v6.12.1 (): Smoother board textures

The gloss and pixel board skins now paint more simply, so the biggest puzzles feel less sluggish.

  • The glossy tile texture no longer draws a soft drop shadow under every tile. It keeps its raised look from the inner highlights, and painting thousands of tiles at once is much lighter.
  • The pixel tile texture skips some unnecessary paint work too. Large games with either texture should stay smoother while typing and scrolling.

v6.12 (): Clearer policies

Seven new plain-language pages explain cookies, tracking, security, your data, refunds and the companies that help run the site.

  • A new Policies page lists every policy in one place, and the footer has a Policies column that links to each one.
  • The cookie page lists what the site stores in your browser and lets you change your analytics choice at any time.
  • New pages explain what is measured and why, how accounts and payments are protected, and which companies help run 128ordle.
  • Your Data explains how to see, correct, get a copy of or delete your information, and exactly what deleting your account removes.
  • Refunds and cancellation now have their own page, linked from the shop, Settings and the Terms of Service.
  • The Privacy Policy now names every analytics tool in use and describes the country cookie and Party chat records.

v6.11.2 (): Every finished game counts

Community stats now count every player on a shared network.

  • Finished games from players on the same network, such as a school or office, are now each counted. Before, only the first result for each daily puzzle on a network was counted, so the community totals were lower than they should have been.

v6.11.1 (): More puzzle answers

The normal puzzle answer pool now includes 56 more words used in Wordle.

  • 56 past Wordle answers, including EMOJI, GIZMO, LASER and OASIS, can now appear in normal puzzles.
  • Removed the answer-list download from the opener analysis page. The comparison table and calculation method remain available.

v6.11 (): Monthly stats recap

A new recap page sums up last month on 128ordle, and the stats page gets milestones and better charts.

  • The new monthly stats recap shows last month’s finished games, letters typed, boards solved, hours played, new players and highlights. A new one appears on the first day of every month.
  • The stats page now tracks the next milestone for letters typed, guesses made and boards solved, with a bar showing how close the community is.
  • Stats charts show exact values when you hover or use the arrow keys, weekends are shaded on the daily chart, and a new chart shows total games over time.
  • Clear rates by board count now have their own bars, so the easiest and hardest sizes stand out.
  • The home page counters now lead with letters typed, and link straight to the full stats page.
  • A new How stats are counted page explains what is stored when you finish a game, which numbers are calculated, and what the game never records. The Privacy Policy, Terms and FAQ now cover community statistics too.

v6.10.1 (): A shorter home page

Daily 128ordle, Party Mode and Ladder Climb now sit together at the top of the home page.

  • Play today’s 128ordle from the main button, with purple Play with friends and yellow Climb the ladder buttons side by side underneath.
  • The large Party Mode and Ladder Climb cards have been removed, bringing the board-count choices closer to the top.
  • The community totals sit directly above the countdown, with the extra stats button removed. The full stats page is available from the footer.

v6.10 (): Community stats

See what the whole community has achieved, from the home page counters to a rebuilt stats page with charts and records.

  • The home page now shows boards solved, guesses made, recorded hours played and games finished. Hover, tap or use the keyboard to roll between tidy totals and exact figures.
  • The stats page now has monthly and daily activity charts, clear rates for every board count, the 2,048 club and the fastest recorded daily 128-board clear.
  • Compare today’s 128ordle solve rates and averages on the same page, and follow community totals as they refresh while the page is open.
  • The home page is shorter, with the How 128ordle Works tutorial removed. Rules and strategy guides are still available from the footer.
  • The closest 2,048-board miss now shows its solved count clearly, with the total underneath.
  • The stats page keeps its counting and privacy explanation in an expandable note, with links to Privacy and Terms.

v6.9 (): Profile cosmetics glow-up

Profile frames, name colours, name effects and victory celebrations have all been rebuilt with far more choice and a live preview.

  • The profile editor now has a live preview on dark and light backgrounds, so you can see your name colour, effect and frame together before you save.
  • You can now try any locked frame, effect or colour on before buying it, right from the profile editor.
  • 13 animated avatar frames: Ember, Frost, Royal, Neon, Galaxy, Tiles, Bloom, Eclipse, Storm and Diamond join Halo, Prism and Slate.
  • 13 name effects, from Rainbow, Aurora, Inferno and Frost to Holo, Gold, Chrome, Glitch, Wave and Sparkle.
  • 30 hand-picked name colours in five palettes, plus the colour wheel, a hex code box, and Default to go back to the theme colour.
  • 10 victory effects, from Fireworks, Supernova and Starfall to Balloons, Jackpot, Party and Bubbles, and the Style menu plays each one as you pick it.

v6.8 (): Luminary becomes 128ordle+

The membership has a new name and its own page, and the shop is now easy to find in search.

  • Settings now has clearer section navigation, more comfortable spacing and a compact mobile layout.
  • You can now permanently delete your account from Settings > Details, including your profile, uploaded images and synced progress. Account deletion also cancels subscription renewals.
  • Luminary is now called 128ordle+. Your membership, purchases and perks carry on as before, and Lifetime Supporter keeps its name and extra permanent unlocks.
  • The membership now has its own page at /plus, and the shop at /shop can now be found in search engines. The old /luminary address redirects to /plus.
  • The membership badge beside usernames is now a compact +++, with the full membership name shown on hover.

v6.7 (): Results card and leaderboard polish

A slimmer run-end card, Gauntlet rungs on the leaderboard, and a batch of fixes across the site.

  • The run-end card is slimmer and clearer: big Share and Copy buttons at the top, shorter stat lines, and one offer that rotates between the live seasonal bundle, membership and the permanent unlock. The Challenge a friend link has been retired.
  • Gauntlet leaderboards now show the highest rung each player reached next to their board count, so climbs that ended early still appear on the board.
  • The All Players and Friends buttons on the leaderboard no longer sit flush against the filter box below them.
  • The one free Undo in each game no longer resets when you play another guess. Supporters still get unlimited Undos.
  • On dark themes, the Ladder Climb card on the home page no longer shows white text on its pale background, so the heading and description are readable again.
  • The FAQ help center is properly centred on wide screens, and choosing a topic now brings the answers into view instead of leaving them further down the page. Links that open the FAQ with a search, like /faq?q=billing, now keep the search when the page loads.

v6.6 (): Prices that match your country

Shop prices now follow the country you are visiting from, with a currency picker if the guess is wrong.

  • Fixed an outage that prevented the site and puzzles from opening.
  • Shop prices now follow the country you are visiting from, so players in the US see dollars and players in the Netherlands see euros even if their browser is set to UK English.
  • Players in Kuwait now see prices in UAE dirhams (AED), the closest supported Gulf currency, instead of a price that changed with their browser language.
  • If the shop guesses the wrong country (some mobile networks misplace US phones in Canada), you can now pick the display currency yourself from the shop header and it is remembered for next time.

v6.5.1 (): Large puzzles stay steady

Scrolling big puzzles no longer jumps, and the home page opens straight away for returning players.

  • Scrolling through puzzles of 128 to 2,048 boards no longer jumps as boards move in and out of view, and the boards you are looking at stay put when you enter a guess or a hidden solved board disappears.
  • The home page opens straight away when you have a daily game in progress, even deep into a 2,048-board run.

v6.5 (): Faster loads, less waiting

The site downloads the guess list only when a game needs it, stops flashing plain text on start-up, and does less work in large games.

  • Opening the site no longer shows a page of plain text for a moment before the game appears.
  • Pages load faster: the full list of accepted guesses now downloads only when a game needs it, and guides, the FAQ and Party fetch their code alongside the rest of the site.
  • Large puzzles now do less work when drawing recent guesses and calculating solve charts, keeping long games responsive.
  • The home page uses far less battery while you read it, because its shimmering buttons no longer redraw the whole page every frame.
  • The leaderboard opens with half as many requests and no longer jumps when the rankings arrive.
  • The site icon is now a small, sharp image, which saves data on your first visit.

v6.4 (): More reliable purchases

Every purchase now reaches your account, even if something goes wrong along the way, and buying without an account is easier to finish.

  • If your unlocks are slow to appear after paying, returning from checkout or tapping Refresh my perks now finds the payment and unlocks it straight away.
  • Bought without an account? Your purchase now attaches as soon as you sign in, wherever you are on the site.
  • Paying with Apple Pay or Google Pay can swap in a different email. The email you create your account with now works for claiming too, even on another device.
  • If you pay twice for something you already own, the extra payment is refunded automatically.
  • A refund for a bundle no longer removes a set you also bought on its own.
  • Checkouts made free with a promo code now unlock properly, and members can no longer start a second Monthly by mistake.
  • Creating an account now tells you to check your inbox when your email needs confirming, and the link attaches your purchase on any device.
  • Checkout now explains how to keep your unlocks when you buy without an account.
  • Lifetime Supporters who still pay for Monthly get a reminder to cancel it, since Lifetime already includes everything.

v6.3 (): Party mode character glow-up

Party mode now has 32 characters to pick from, and every one of them has been redrawn.

  • Eleven new Party characters: Panda, Bunny, Tiger, Shark, Dragon, Duck, Hedgehog, Koala, Cupcake, Ninja and Pirate.
  • Every existing character has been redrawn with soft shading, brighter eyes and little extras like a crowned frog, a scarf-wearing penguin and a rainbow unicorn mane.
  • Characters stay easy to tell apart at small sizes in the lobby, scoreboard and chat.

v6.2 (): Purchase history and clearer billing

See everything you have bought in Settings, cancel Luminary Monthly from one clear button, and find the refund policy wherever you pay.

  • Settings, under Subscription, now lists every one-time unlock, set and bundle you have bought, with its date, price and status.
  • Members get a Manage or cancel subscription button in Settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep your perks until the paid month ends.
  • The refund policy is now clear everywhere you pay: all sales are final, except where the law requires a refund, and mistakes like double charges are always put right.
  • New FAQ answers cover refunds and where to find your purchase history, and the Terms of Service have a dedicated Refunds section.

v6.1 (): Shop launch films and fixes

Watch the launch film, discover event trailers, and enjoy a smoother seasonal shop with its own address at 128ordle.com/shop.

  • Fixed a launch error that stopped pages loading after the shop update.
  • Fixed a checkout error that blocked seasonal sets and bundles from opening payment.
  • The seasonal shop, its sets and the countdown are all live.
  • Watch the 128ordle launch trailer here and in the full v6.0 release notes, with sound and fullscreen controls.
  • Watch the Halloween trailer and the Winter and Christmas trailer any time from the shop calendar, the set pop-ups, or the top of the shop while the event is on.
  • Shop popups keep the page behind them still until you close them, so you cannot scroll past an open bundle or pack.
  • Style now opens on Sets, with readable headings, clearer selections and better contrast across every theme, keyboard and set preview.
  • Tapping something you do not own yet, in Style, Settings, your profile, Stats or the Archive, now opens the shop scrolled straight to the item that unlocks it, with a glow so it is easy to spot.
  • The shop now has its own address at 128ordle.com/shop, with set, bundle and benefits pages under it, and Unlock all on the home page opens it straight at Membership.
  • The tip jar at the bottom of the shop now matches your current theme and says where the money goes.
  • The drop calendar now shows the whole year ahead, with seasons and events side by side and a marker for today. Pick any of them to see its sets, dates, countdown and trailer.
  • Scrollbars across the site now wear the colours of your current theme.
  • Fairer leaderboards and streaks: results only count for puzzles that are open or closed in the last week, and impossibly fast times stay off the fastest-time board.

v6.0 (): The shop overhaul

A rebuilt shop and a year of seasonal content: matching themes, keyboards and sound packs, rotating event collections, and a site that dresses up for every season.

128ordle launch trailer15 seconds · Play with sound · Fullscreen available
  • New seasonal shop: every season brings two cheap sets and every event brings three.
  • Each set is a matching board theme, keyboard and a sound pack with its own instrument.
  • Money-saving bundles for every season and event, and the permanent packs are back on sale at lower prices.
  • The top bar and logo now change with the season or event.

Full v6.0 release notes

  • Added this changelog, with a dedicated page for each major release.
  • The old updates page now redirects here.
  • New guides for playing at school or work, with games sorted by how long your break is, plus classroom ideas for teachers.

v5.0 (): Ladder Climb and the Daily Gauntlet

Two new ways to play, daily streaks, weekly leaderboards, and a much simpler shop with checkout that no longer needs an account.

  • New Ladder Climb mode takes you from 1 to 128 boards in a single run.
  • New Daily Gauntlet: one shared climb a day, one attempt, ranked on its own leaderboard.
  • Daily play streaks, plus This Week, Day Streak, and Gauntlet leaderboard tabs.
  • The shop is now two options: Lifetime Supporter or Luminary Monthly, and you can buy without an account.

  • Published opener analysis built from the standard answer list, with the data and script available to reproduce it.
  • Expanded the main strategy guide with concrete multi-board examples.

  • Race up to 32 players through the same puzzle, live.
  • Spectate, chat, pick an avatar, and see a podium when the round ends.
  • Eight new Party achievements on your profile.

  • Updated the Wordle solution list.
  • Removed the Microsoft sign-in option.

  • Fixed profile setup for players signing in with Google.
  • Improved contrast in light mode.
  • Links to the old domain now land on the right page.

v3.0 (): Hello, 128ordle.com

128ordle moved to its permanent home at 128ordle.com, brought back Google sign-in, and made big boards easier to follow.
