Sedecordle Strategy
Sedecordle Strategy explains how the exact 16-board rules and guess budget change the opening, middle game, and final candidate decisions.
The plan below is manually reviewed for this board count. It includes a measurable checkpoint, the most common failure mode, and a repeatable training method instead of reusing one generic Wordle tip list.
Use the advice during Sedecordle, then compare the result against another run with the same opener sequence.
Sedecordle shifts the puzzle from memory toward a repeatable workflow. Sixteen boards produce enough simultaneous clues that a fixed scan, deliberate solved-board hiding, and a clear switch from coverage to answers matter more than remembering every candidate.
Check your remaining guess budget
Suppose you have solved 8 of 16 boards in 11 guesses. You have 10 guesses left for 8 answers: 2 spare turns. A guess that solves no board reduces that margin by one; a correct answer preserves it. These are example counts, not player results or a recommended pace.
Spare turns = guesses left − unsolved boards. This assumes distinct answers, as in standard 128ordle. Having spare turns does not guarantee the clues are sufficient to win.
At zero spare turns, every remaining guess must solve a board. Below zero, a full clear is no longer possible, but you can keep solving to improve your result. Enable JavaScript to enter your own counts in the calculator.
Sedecordle strategy by phase
| Phase | Priority | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Opening | Build the field | Three coverage guesses are a sensible baseline. Aim for fifteen different letters before repeating one, but let strong feedback override the formula: if an answer clears a board and tests a high-value missing letter, use it instead of forcing a preselected third opener. |
| Middle | Control the scan | Divide the grid into small visual groups and scan them in order. Solve boards with four fixed letters first, then boards with three strong clues. Hide solved boards in batches so the layout changes less often and you do not lose your place after every guess. |
| Endgame | Protect the budget | The five-guess cushion disappears quickly when several boards share ambiguous endings. Build a mental queue: certain answer, useful discriminator, then low-information board. A test word should ideally separate candidates on two or more remaining boards. |
Avoid the main failure mode
The damaging habit at sixteen boards is random jumping. It creates repeated work, makes weak boards invisible, and encourages guesses that solve one board without improving the rest of the field.
Use a measurable checkpoint
At the end of the opener phase, count boards with at least three useful letters rather than boards that are almost solved. A healthy opening creates a broad middle-game queue; one lucky near-solve does not compensate for ten blank-looking grids.

- Use Infinite mode to practise the same scan order and hide solved boards at the same checkpoint each run. Compare how many boards remain after ten total guesses; that measure exposes middle-game efficiency better than one final win or loss.
