How to play 7 letter Duordle
Play 7 letter Duordle on 128ordle: solve 2 different seven-letter answers in 7 guesses. Type one word and press Enter to send it to every unsolved board at once.
Reading the clues
- A guess must be an accepted seven-letter English word. British and American spellings are both accepted. Green means the right letter in the right position; yellow means the letter belongs in a different position.
- Grey means that copy of the letter did not match. If your guess repeats a letter, another copy can still be green or yellow. Use all the rows together to work out how many copies the answer can contain.
- Each board scores the guess on its own. A grey letter on one board can be green on another. Entering an exact answer solves that board, and solved boards stop receiving guesses. Clear every board before your guesses run out to win.
Why a repeated letter can be grey
In this made-up example, the answer is KITCHEN and the guess is WEATHER. WEATHER contains E twice, but KITCHEN has only one E. One E is coloured and the other is grey. A grey duplicate rules out an extra copy, not every E.
A plan for this puzzle
Two boards let you practise reading the same guess in two different ways. Before choosing a word for the left board, check what its letters could teach you on the right. If one answer is certain, solving it also gives the other board another row of clues.
What seven letters changes
Each guess shows you seven letters, so two openers cover half the alphabet and most boards are readable by the third row. The difficulty moves from deduction to recall: you often know five or six letters and still have to think of the word.
Seven-letter answers rarely differ by one letter, but they share beginnings and endings: CONCERT, CONFESS, CONFIRM, CONNECT, CONSENT, CONTROL; or CAPTURE, CULTURE, MIXTURE, PICTURE, TEXTURE, TORTURE.
Know when you can afford a test word
You start with 5 spare turns: the guess limit minus the number of answers. During play, subtract unsolved boards from guesses left. A guess that solves nothing spends one spare turn; a correct answer keeps the margin.
At zero spare turns, every remaining guess must solve a board to clear the puzzle. A positive margin gives you room to test letters, but does not guarantee a win.
