How to play 10 letter Quordle
Play 10 letter Quordle on 128ordle: solve 4 different ten-letter answers in 9 guesses. Type one word and press Enter to send it to every unsolved board at once.
Reading the clues
- A guess must be an accepted ten-letter English word. British and American spellings are both accepted. Green means the right letter in the right position; yellow means the letter belongs in a different position.
- Grey means that copy of the letter did not match. If your guess repeats a letter, another copy can still be green or yellow. Use all the rows together to work out how many copies the answer can contain.
- Each board scores the guess on its own. A grey letter on one board can be green on another. Entering an exact answer solves that board, and solved boards stop receiving guesses. Clear every board before your guesses run out to win.
Why a repeated letter can be grey
In this made-up example, the answer is BLACKSMITH and the guess is DICTIONARY. DICTIONARY contains I twice, but BLACKSMITH has only one I. One I is coloured and the other is grey. A grey duplicate rules out an extra copy, not every I.
A plan for this puzzle
Four boards are small enough to scan after every guess. If one board is stuck between two answers, inspect the other three before taking a chance. A certain answer elsewhere may contain the letter that separates your two candidates.
What ten letters changes
Each guess shows you ten letters, and two openers test more than half the alphabet. Deduction is rarely the problem. The work is recall and spelling: you need a real ten-letter word for every row, and one wrong letter in a long word is easy to miss.
Ten-letter answers are mostly a stem plus a long ending: COLLECTION, CONNECTION, CONVICTION, CORRECTION, PROTECTION, REFLECTION; or FRIENDSHIP, LEADERSHIP, MEMBERSHIP.
Know when you can afford a test word
You start with 5 spare turns: the guess limit minus the number of answers. During play, subtract unsolved boards from guesses left. A guess that solves nothing spends one spare turn; a correct answer keeps the margin.
At zero spare turns, every remaining guess must solve a board to clear the puzzle. A positive margin gives you room to test letters, but does not guarantee a win.
